The Dupage County Circuit Court provides assistance with various legal services including foreclosure assistance, marriages and civil unions and orders of protection. This court also handles probate and guardianship matters.
The Dupage County Circuit Court is part of the 18th Judicial Circuit of Illinois. As a court of general jurisdiction, it manages a wide variety of cases arising under state law. In order to assist individuals who may not have the means to pay or whose legal situation does not warrant the retention of an attorney, the court provides “pro se” assistance for people who want to represent themselves.
Additionally, the Dupage County Circuit Court provides access to the Mental Illness Court Alternative Program. This program is intended to assist criminal offenders that have diagnosed mental health issues. The program allows them to request a sentencing alternative in cases where the mental disorder was a contributing factor in the commission of the crime for which they were charged. The alternative sentencing program focuses on treatment services that target the underlying mental condition.
The Drug Court Program also provides a sentencing alternative for non-violent drug offenders. Offenders must meet certain requirements to participate in the 24-month program, including a minimum age of 17, having a pending felony charge and demonstrating that they are suffering from a significant drug-related problem.
