Those who meet the minimum requirements and are residents of New Mexico can apply for Medicaid online, by mail or in person at a local field office, states the New Mexico Human Services Department. Individuals may also find out if they are eligible by completing an application online at Healthcare.gov. Medicaid is available in New Mexico to pregnant women, children, seniors, individuals with disabilities and individuals with low income.
New Mexico offers expanded Medicaid benefits for low-income adults, states Medicaid.gov. As of 2015, individuals qualify for Medicaid if they earn less than $16,243 per year, advises Healthcare.gov. The income limit increases with family size. For example, a family of six qualifies if their annual income is less than $44,497.
