California hair salons such as Bello Salon and Adora Bella participate in hair cutting events where salon staff cut ponytail wefts of hair from numerous donors. Adults and young people are able to donate hair as long as it is clean and of sufficient length to form a 10-inch ponytail. The ponytails are braided and secured at both ends by rubber bands. Bello Salon collected 292-inches of hair at one Locks of Love event. Split Ends Hair Salon is authorized by the charity to accept hair donations on its behalf.
Customers can donate hair that is color-treated or permed; however, the salon cannot accept bleached or colored bleached hair. Pulled straight curly hair must measure at least 10 inches from tip to tip to qualify. Dreadlocks, wigs or any type of synthetic hair is not suitable for Locks of Love. Gray hair is okay to donate, but is sold to offset hairpiece manufacturing expenses.Learn more about Business & Finance
