According to the Washington Post, the average salary for a Blackwater employee in 2004 was $600 per day. In comparison, General Petraeus made $493 per day as the top U.S. military commander in Iraq.
Blackwater salary information was revealed to the public via data given to a House Oversight and Government Committee looking into Iraq war contractors. At the time of the report, Blackwater was acting as a subcontractor providing private security services in Iraq.
The 2004 Blackwater contract was signed with Regency Hotel and Hospital in Kuwait. The company also contracted with the U.S. State Department. In 2010, Blackwater was sold and its name changed to Xe Services.
