Some safe places to raise a family in Texas are Murphy, Colleyville, Highland Village and Hutto, according to Safewise. These cities offer family-friendly activities, have low crime rates and offer strong community qualities.
Murphy is one of the safest cities in Texas, with less than one violent crime per 1,000 people and 6.30 property crimes per 1,000 people, according to Safewise. Murphy is a suburb with about 19,000 people. There are plenty of family-friendly activities and events, including a farmer’s market. In 2013, there were only four violent crimes reported in the entire year. There is also the Neighbor 2 Neighbor program to keep it safe for the community.
The next-safest city in Texas that is appropriate for families is Colleyville, notes Safewise. There were only 0.37 violent crimes per 1,000 people, just up from 0.20 violent crimes per 1,000 in Murphy. In 2013 Colleyville didn’t have any crimes involving arson, rape or murder. Between 2012 and 2013, the population grew, but it continues to be a very safe city. Highland Village also has less than one crime per 1,000 people, at just 0.50. There were 120 crimes in 2013, which included property and violent crimes. This is still very low considering the population.
