Talent management and HR departments serve two different purposes in an organization. Talent management workers are concerned with hiring and retaining top talent. The job includes all the processes and systems related to developing, managing and retaining a superior workforce.

Talent management must be fully integrated into all of the processes and activities related to employees because it is a business strategy. Drawing and retaining talented individuals is the responsibility of every member of the organization and not just the job of managers. A strategy that works well also involves the sharing of information about employees who exhibit extraordinary talent. This strategy enables various departments to review and identify available talent when opportunities arise.

HR departments are devoted to providing effective training, procedures, safety guidelines and support within an organization. The HR department is also responsible for determining an employee's salary, offering benefits and evaluating workers. HR departments aim to optimize an organization’s mission, vision, metrics, values and other factors that keep the entity moving towards success. Employees who hold positions in HR department have titles such as Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Director and Human Resources Assistant.
