Although he made his money through the growth of Microsoft, he has turned to philanthropy through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The charitable organization focuses on world health, education in the United States, hunger in Africa and mobile banking. Warren Buffett's wealth comes from his company Berkshire Hathaway, which deals in diverse subsidiaries such as insurance, energy and railroads. He is also a generous philanthropist, donating large amounts of money primarily to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
