Horton one out of five stars in its overall satisfaction rating, reporting issues that include cement cracking, patio flooding, lack of communication and unfulfilled warranty promises, according to Consumer Affairs. D.R. Horton is not an accredited business by the Better Business Bureau or by Consumer Affairs. The Central Florida BBB has closed more than 400 complaints filed about D.R. Horton since 2012.
Other reported problems with D.R. Horton homes include air conditioner issues, repair wait time, mold development, poor customer service and false advertising, states Consumer Affairs. D.R Horton has affiliated companies that also sell homes, including Express Homes, Emerald Homes and Regent Homes. The company claims the ranking of Number One homebuilder by volume in the United States since 2002, according to the company website.
However, customers report complaints in the categories of advertising and sales issues, billing and collections, delivery and warranty issues, and over 300 complaints on overall problems with the product, according to the BBB. Like reports on Consumer Affairs, customers on the Central Florida BBB website report cement and flooding issues and unfulfilled warranties, as well as denying refunds on deposits and not delivering the product on time.
