The Silver Institute, a nonprofit organization, provides data and information on silver to the public. With metals consultant Thomson Reuters GFMS, it produces the World Silver Survey report. Several other resources on its website also forecast silver prices.
Since 1994, the survey has researched global silver markets. To make price forecasts, researchers analyze supply and demand statistics, investor activity, silver stocks and bullion flows. Additional information in the report focuses on financial, economic and social factors underlying market trends. The Silver Institute posts the report online for free access.
Another online resource is the Silver News, a free bimonthly newsletter. In 2015, the Institute published forecast articles on key components of global demand, price margins for jewelry sales during the 2014 holiday season and the Royal Mint Refinery introductory sale of bullion to the public.
Thomson Reuters delivers information and forecasts to global financial markets. It acquired GFMS in 2011, combining news and pricing services with data analytics for metals sector reporting. According to its site, clicking an Excel button within a report exports data for analysis and inclusion in your own models. In addition to silver, annual surveys for platinum, palladium, gold and copper are available as free downloads.
