To register your MasterCard, making online purchases more secure, visit the MasterCard website, click on the Consumers tab, then hover your mouse on Explore Features and Benefits. On the pop-up menu that appears, hover on SecureCode, then click on the SecureCode Sign Up link.
Once you're directed to the SecureCode Sign Up page, locate your bank from the provided list. Clicking on your bank's name takes you to a webpage to create your private code. This webpage usually has a Register Now tab that begins the SecureCode registry process.
Clicking on the Register Now tab takes you to a separate page requiring input of personal information such as your card number, name, and other proofs of identity. After answering the security questions correctly, you may then create your own personal SecureCode. Creating your own personal SecureCode completes the registration process, and you may then use your card to shop at participating online merchants.
Everytime you make an online purchase, the MasterCard SecureCode window is going to appear during checkout and prompt you to enter your SecureCode to confirm your identity, similar to an automated teller asking for your personal identification number. Your MasterCard SecureCode is confidential information limited to you and your bank. MasterCard does not share your SecureCode with the merchant, according to the MasterCard website.
