Missouri's No Call law applies to Missouri residential or personal cellphone numbers owned by private individuals. The law does not apply to business phone numbers or fax numbers. A telemarketer who violates the no-call law faces a civil penalty of up to $5,000 for each knowing violation.
The law prohibits telemarketers from calling those individuals who have been added to the list, with some exceptions that have been written into the law. These exceptions include calls from those telemarketers that currently have a business relationship with the recipient, those that residents have expressly invited or permitted, certain not-for-profit groups if the person calling is a member of the group, those calling on a referral, and those licensed for a trade or profession who are setting an appointment.
The state updates the no-call registry quarterly. To further decrease telemarketing calls under a federal law, the attorney general's office advises residents to tell telemarketers to add their phone number to their no-call lists.Learn more about Marketing & Sales
