Properly addressing a business envelope requires several pieces of information including the name of the recipient, the company, the mailing address, the city, the state and the zip code. Failing to include this information can cause your mail to be delivered to an incorrect address, or lost.
In addition to the required elements, a few other tips for effectively addressing a business envelope include attention to font size and type, and placement on the envelope. A plain font (minimum 10 pt size) makes the address easier for automated mail processing machines to accurately read and route the mail.
Other considerations include formatting, such as justifying the address to the left, using all capital letters and including at least one space between each data element. Finally, use black ink on white paper for best results.
