There are a number of websites that give individuals the option to find prices of recently sold properties, including Realtor.com and Zillow. Consumers are also able to find the prices of real estate transactions by reading the property transfers in the public notice section of local newspapers.
Each website has its own process for locating the prices of recently sold properties. Realtor.com has an option to view recently sold homes under the Buy tab at the top of the page. Users are required to enter a city and state to search for properties, and they are able to further narrow search results by price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and even addresses.
When using Zillow, consumers first click on the Homes tab at the top of the webpage. The site then brings up a map, typically of the area in which the user is located. The map has yellow indicators that show areas where homes have recently sold. Users are able to hover over each indicator to see a snapshot of details about the property. Clicking on the indicator brings up additional details about the property and the sale price. There is also a Recently Sold tab at the top of the map. Users narrow search results by price, square feet, lot size, the type of property or even the year the property was built.
