Sunshine Health is a managed-care organization in Florida offering Medicaid and long-term care services for people enrolled in low-income government services programs through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, or AHCA. These care services fall under the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program, explains Sunshine Health. Sunshine Health also offers a Medicare HMO plan to people who qualify for both Medicare and Medical Assistance from the state of Florida.
SMMC divides the health care service programs into two components, both of which are available to Medicaid recipients, according to Sunshine Health. These are the Florida Long Term Care Managed Care Program and the Florida Managed Medical Assistance Program. Qualified individuals and families enrolled in Medicaid receive managed care plans through the Florida Managed Medical Assistance Program with the exception of long-term care. People who also qualify for long-term care receive those services through the Florida Long Term Care Managed Care Program.
Patients who receive Medicare and are eligible for the income-based Medical Assistance program can enroll in the HMO plan known as Sunshine Health Advantage, notes the company. Enrollees in this program receive the same benefits as the government's original Medicare program but also have access to additional coverage for Part D and Part B drugs, limited dental services, and various benefits for vision, hearing and over-the-counter medicines or supplies.
