Physicians are compelled by ethics to show compassion and understanding when providing care. There are two types of physicians: Medical Doctors and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine. Doctors with an osteopathic background may specialize in holistic treatments or preventative care.
Different physicians have certain specialities, and they may only treat a certain disease or see a particular kind of patient. For instance, an emergency physician has a specialty in emergency medicine. A pediatrician usually cares for infants. Obstetricians and gynecologists treat reproductive issues, see pregnant women and deliver babies. Dermatologists are physicians who deal with scalp and skin problems.
A general practitioner is tasked with treating patients with a multitude of health problems, and they provide care to the entire community, including people of all different backgrounds. A family physician is a general practitioner who provides medical care to an entire family. General doctors alleviate chronic and acute diseases along with educating patients on preventing future health complications. Their aim is not to treat certain organs of the body, which is a task that is reserved for specialized and internal-medicine specialists.Learn more about Career Aspirations
