Customers can pay their Westar Energy bill online by logging into their account at WestarEnergy.com, selecting the bill pay option and entering their checking or savings account, or credit or debit card information into the website. Customers must register for an online account before using the service.
Westar Energy does not charge a fee for paying with a checking account, but fees may apply for using a credit or debit card. Customers may also set up automatic payments using a checking or savings account.
Customers who want a predictable, rather than fluctuating, energy bill can sign up for an average payment plan online. This plan allows the customer to pay the average of the previous 12 months of payments and pay a consistent amount each month.
Some customers may qualify for a payment extension if their bill is less than 30 days past due. Eligibility is revealed in the customer's online account. Customers can call for other payment arrangements if they can pay at least half of the balance due.
Additional energy assistance is available through programs such as the federal Low Income Energy Assistance Program, the Kansas Weatherization Assistance Program, Project DESERVE and the United Way. Customers may also pay their bill by phone, in person at an authorized pay station or by mailing payment to Westar Energy at the official address.
