Test takers are given 2.5 hours to finish the assessment, which is comprised of 90 multiple-choice questions. About two-thirds of the exam has an emphasis on basic skills and knowledge, while the other one-third of the test is geared towards the application of skills within the classroom. The test is written in English, and is either taken through a computer or given in person after the test taker sets up an appointment at a participating school district, regional office of education or other agency.
The accuracy, fairness and relevance within each test is reviewed several times, and each question is statistically analyzed to confirm that the procedures exceed the standards of ETS's Standards for Quality and Fairness. The test is constantly updated to verify the validity of its information to meet legislative mandates. As of 2016, the cost of the test is $55 and is payable by credit/debit card, money order, bank check or U.S. Postal Service money order.Learn more about Career Aspirations
