Who Owns Apple?

Apple Inc. is owned by its shareholders. According to Dividend.com, the top five individual shareholders as of 2014 are Arthur Levinson, who owns more than 1.1 million shares; Tim Cook, with 950,767 shares; Al Gore, with 437,661 shares; Robert Mansfield, with 346,801 shares; and Craig Federighi with 318,592 shares.

As of 2014, 2,157 institutions hold shares in Apple. The largest holding is by the Vanguard Group, Inc., which holds 323 million shares, or 5.5 percent of the company. State Street Corporation holds more than 243 million shares, FMR LLC holds more than 192 million shares and BlackRock Institutional Trust Co. N.A. holds nearly 159 million shares. Companies that own more than 55 million shares include Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, Northern Trust Corporation, Invesco Ltd., BlackRock Fund Advisors, JP Morgan Chase & Company and Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
