As of 2016, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's website offers free publications on construction tunneling, emergency response procedures for hospitals, hand and power tools, industrial hygiene, and personal protective equipment. OSHA provides these and numerous other manuals and guides online and also makes hard copies available for order.
One example of a free publication is the OSHA safety manual for hospital personnel who may come in contact with victims of large-scale accidents involving hazardous materials, as noted on the OSHA website. This booklet details procedures and best practices to maintain workplace safety during an emergency. It outlines areas of concern for hospital employees, such as appropriate personal protective equipment and advance training in admittance protocols. OSHA collected data from a number of agencies and organizations for this guide, including various first responders, and it compiled the results of drills and simulations to provide information hospitals use to establish emergency procedures when dealing with contaminated patients.
OSHA provides some publications in both English and Spanish, and many are available for free download in various formats, as explained on its website. OSHA provides tabs that allow users to search books and manuals by topic, type and language. Site users can find its most recent publications under a heading called New and Hot Topics.
