Some organizations that grant wishes to terminally ill adults are The Dream Foundation and Second Wind Dreams. Deliver the Dream doesn’t grant custom wishes, but provides a weekend retreat for the adults and their families.
The Dream Foundation is one of the only organizations that grant wishes to adults. It is for adults who are terminal or who have an advanced illness. During their last days of life, adults are often looking for closure and peace, which are part of what this organization provides. It is only for adults 18 and older who have a life expectancy of a year or less. Volunteers working for the organization help fulfill the wishes.
Second Wind Dreams provides wish fulfillment for adults in the United States and Canada. It is only for people living in senior or assisted living communities, hospice or nursing homes, and not for younger adults. This organization helps to fulfill wishes of people who are aging or dealing with a serious illness.
Deliver the Dream isn’t a traditional wish fulfillment organization, but instead has families go on retreats. It is for the individual and family of someone with an advanced illness, regardless of who they are. The family retreats last three days and include on-site medical staff.
