You can donate a sofa either by dropping it off at a donation center or by arranging for a pick-up. Goodwill, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity are three charities that accept donated furniture items. Charity donation information is available on the websites of these three organizations.
The Salvation Army provides drop-off and pick-up services for those donating. Go to SATruck.org to locate a drop-off location near you, or schedule a free pick-ups using the online pick-up scheduling feature. The Salvation Army only accepts furniture items without major damage or stains, and upon accepting the items it then makes the furniture available to those in need.
Habitat for Humanity provides individual websites for charity branches, as in the case of Middlesex Habitat for Humanity in Connecticut at habitatmiddlesex.org. On this website, individuals can schedule donation pick-ups. The website provides forms where users enter their names, contact information, items to be donated, receipt information and additional comments, when applicable. As with the Salvation Army, donated items often become available to those in need.
Goodwill stores are in several locations in the United States. To donate a sofa, look up contact information for your local store on Goodwill.org. There is also a map showing Goodwill locations.
