An individual can open a checking account with JPMorgan Chase & Co. online at Chase.com. In the Products & Services section, he can choose the type of account he wishes to open, then review the monthly fees, minimum deposits, and various features and benefits of each type of Chase checking account.
As of June 2015, options on Chase.com include Total Checking, Premier Plus Checking, Premier Platinum Checking, and High School and College Checking accounts for students. After reviewing the details of each option, a customer can select the account he would like to open, at which point he is redirected to an online application form. From here, he is asked to provide his Social Security number, driver's license or state ID, and key contact information, such as name, address and phone number. Customers must be United States citizens with an American address. International customers may open an account separately through Chase International Financial Services.
The new customer is then asked to make an opening deposit, which may be done through a debit or checking card, a direct transfer from an existing Chase checking or savings account, or a transfer of funds from an account held at another bank. According to Chase.com, the customer must complete his application within 30 minutes to avoid expiration.
