Associated Bank was established in 1970 as a result of a strategic alliance between three banks in the Northeast Wisconsin area. The three banks involved in the founding merger were the Kellogg Citizens Bank of Green Bay, First National Bank of Neenah and the Manitowoc Savings Bank. Associated Bank also merged with First Financial, which was a consolidated group of Wisconsin's thrifts and loan banks, in 1997.
