The new freedom Blue PPO plan is a Medicare Advantage Preferred Provider Organization plan that can be accessed by residents of California, according to Anthem Blue Cross. The new Medicare HMO is a Medicare advantage plan that covers health care and drug prescription in a single plan for North Carolina residents.
Members of the new Blue PPO have the freedom to choose a physician, hospital or a provider within the network, states Anthem Blue Cross. Members do not need referrals to see a service provider within the network but must pay deductibles before a plan can be effective. Members are free to use providers outside the network, but this attracts higher costs. Members must first gain clearance for certain services before they can access them. To be eligible, a member must subscribe to Medicare Part A and B. People with end stage renal disease are not eligible. This plan also covers both Part B and Part D drug prescriptions.
Members of the new Blue Medicare HMO manage original Medicare benefits with no extra costs, states BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina. They also get improved benefits not covered in the original plan. It requires low premiums and copayments with services such as an office visit by a doctor. It covers inpatient, outpatient, home health care, skilled nursing facility and worldwide emergency coverage. It also includes ambulance use, drug prescriptions, urgent care and preventive care.
