The Hard Rock Café was founded in 1971 by two Americans in London, but a lot has changed since then. The Seminole Tribe of Florida has owned Hard Rock’s restaurant, hotel and casino business with headquarters in Orlando, Florida since 2007.
The Seminole tribe owned two Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos in Florida before purchasing Hard Rock International for $965 million in late 2006. When the deal was closed in early 2007, the tribe’s purchase of the Hard Rock brand included over 120 Hard Rock Cafés, four Hard Rock Hotels and two Hard Rock Hotel and Casino hotels and two music venues.
In addition to the real estate properties, the deal also gave the Seminoles ownership of the company’s enormous collection of music memorabilia, which has been decorating the walls of the restaurants since 1979.
