The average salary for a National Pro Fastpitch player is $5,000 to $6,000 per season, which runs from June through August. Housing for each player is provided by the team.
College seniors are automatically eligible to be drafted, but only the top percent are picked. Non-seniors can ask to be placed on the draft list or supplemental draft list of a professional league, but will lose their amateur status, financial aid and scholarships, even if they never sign a contract with that league.
Once the drafted athlete’s college eligibility is completed, the player may be signed by NPF or asked to try out for the team prior to signing a contract. An NCAA or NAIA student-athlete who is drafted can keep her college playing eligibility and financial aid until a contract is signed.
