Postage stamps for domestic mail in 1967 were five cents per ounce. Stamps for cards and postcards were only four cents. These prices had been in effect since Jan. 7, 1963.
The price for domestic mail postage increased to six cents and stamps for postcards to five cents on Jan. 7, 1968. On Jan. 26, 2014, domestic mail postage became 49 cents, and postcard postage became 34 cents. Prices on domestic mail stamps in 1967 were approximately 10 percent of the current rate. The 2014 price change came less than a year after the last change on Jan. 27, 2013, when domestic mail postage was 46 cents and the postcard rate was 33 cents.
