The average pharmacist salary was $56.96 an hour, or $2,278.40 for a 40-hour work week, as of May 2014, according to figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average annual salary for a pharmacist was $118,470 as of May 2014.

Salaries fluctuate based on the industry in which a pharmacist works. For example, the same Bureau of Labor statistics show that pharmacists working in scientific research and development services earn the highest average salary, at $62.40 an hour or $129,790 a year.

Pharmacists in the warehousing and storage industries earn the next-highest average salary of $61.60 an hour, or $128,130 annually. Pharmacists working in outpatient care centers earn an average annual salary of $125,980. Grocery store pharmacists earn an average of $115,080 a year, which is the lowest average salary.
