How Much Money Can I Get From a PHEAA Grant?

According to the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, the maximum PHEAA grant is $4,363, as of 2014. This amount is only applicable to students who attend private, in-state colleges and whose families make less than $25,000 a year. The grant may be less, depending on economic status and post-secondary plans.

Grant amounts become smaller as annual family income levels get higher. Grant amounts are also higher for expensive institutions, like private colleges, than for less expensive options, like community colleges. Small grants are available to qualifying students who do not attend school in Pennsylvania. These numbers are all estimates, says the PHREAA, and award amounts may vary on a case-by-case basis.
