A first-class stamp in the United Kingdom costs 62 pence to send a letter anywhere in the UK, using Royal Mail. A second-class stamp for a letter costs 53 pence.
The amount one pays to send a letter varies depending on the size and the weight of the letter or package. Royal Mail also has International services available, as well as signature and tracking services. The Guardian notes that the cost for a first-class stamp was raised by two pence on March 31st, 2014, two years following the last price increase for stamps. The cost for a second-class stamp was also raised at that time by three pence to 53 pence.
