The average annual pay for a dietitian is $56,300 as of May 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Dietitians help patients or food service establishments prepare healthy meals and purchase the right foods and supplements.

The BLS indicates that 10 percent of dietitians earn at or below $33,980 a year; however, the top 10 percent earn $78,720 or more a year. Dietitians in California have the highest average pay at $71,870 per year. Nevada is second-highest, as professionals in that state average $70,580 per year. By comparison, dietitians in Pennsylvania earn an average annual salary of $47,680.
