To mine Dogecoin, download the Dogecoin client, choose CPU or GPU mining, find a pool, create an account and a worker and download a mining program. Setup your batch file, and open it to start mining.
- Download the Dogecoin client
Go to Dogecoin's homepage, and download the Dogecoin client. When it is finished downloading, open it. Wait while the client downloads the blockchain.
- Choose GPU or CPU mining
If you are using an integrated graphics card, mine with your computer's CPU. If you have a dedicated graphics card, especially an AMD, GPU mining is ideal.
- Decide to mine alone or with a pool
Mine on your own or collaborate with other miners in a pool. Mining with a pool is usually better for anyone not running a powerful computer. When mining alone, it is possible to never hit a block. A pool works together and splits the profits evenly according to the amount of power put in by each member.
- Choose a pool and sign up
There are numerous mining pools. Browse a Dogecoin community website and choose one. Sign up, and create a worker and a password. Take note of the pool's port number.
- Setup CGMiner
Search for software called CGMiner. Download it, and extract the contents from the .zip file onto your hard drive.
- Setup the GPU batch file
If you are GPU mining, go to the folder that containers cgminer.exe. Press the right mouse button to open a new .txt file. Type "cgminer.exe —scrypt -o url:port -u username.workername -p workerpassword" without the quotation marks, and substitute your pool URL, port number, worker name and password. Save the .txt file as "GPUMiner.bat" without the quotation marks.
- Prepare the CPU catch file
If you are CPU mining, download the software called cpuminer instead of CGMiner, and type "minerd.exe -o url:port -u username.workername -p workerpassword" without the quotation marks in the .txt file, and substitute your personal information.
- Start mining
Open the .bat file you just created, and CGMiner or cpuminer starts mining. Monitor the progress at the pool's website.
