Metavante Corporation is a subsidiary of Fidelity National Information Services. Metavante provides financial technology services, software and financial services regulatory advice, and financial consulting to its customers. Metavante serves approximately 8,000 financial services firms and businesses worldwide.

Metavante was formerly known as M&I Data Services as a subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation before it changed its name in 2000. The company was initially founded in 1964 and is currently headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It employs over 5,600 employees in 35 cities.

Throughout its history, Metavante has been at the forefront of financial innovation. In 1967, M&I Data set up the first remote banking operation in the country. Next, in 1976, the company was responsible for the first successful ATM transaction. Finally, in 1995, M&I conducted the first ever Internet-based banking transaction.

Metavante began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in 2007 as an independent publicly traded company, and was acquired by Fidelity in October of 2009.
