3Rivers Federal Credit Union began in 1935 as the International Harvester Employees Federal Credit Union, and only employees of that company were eligible for membership. Later, family members of employees became eligible as well. The credit union changed its name to Three Rivers in 1982, and has more than 900 sponsor companies. The credit union celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2015, and as of that date it had 69,000 members, assets totalling $754 million, and 260 employees.

The credit union launched the 3Rivers Credit Union Foundation in 2015 to provide grants to nonprofits serving the community through education, financial literacy, or health and wellness programs. The credit union offers mobile banking services, financial counseling programs, document shredding services and personalized budgets to its members. The credit union offers ten $1,000 college scholarships every year, and its employees volunteer time at local charitable organizations.
