Even though the cost of scooter repairs is covered, some Medicare recipients have trouble finding approved businesses to perform the repairs, explains the American Association for Healthcare. Medicare-contracted suppliers are required to repair scooters they sell. However, the companies are not required to repair mobility scooters from other companies. If a Medicare beneficiary's local suppliers opt out of servicing Scooter Store-powered wheelchairs, the beneficiary may have to pay out-of-pocket to have the scooter fixed.
