Hospital Compare has general information on the Medicare providers in a particular area, including the name, address, telephone number and the type of hospital, according to Medicare.gov. Hospital Compare also provides information on the quality of care at the various hospitals to help patients choose a hospital.
To search for a Medicare provider, enter the city, state or ZIP code in the location field, explains Medicare.gov. You may filter your search by entering a partial or full hospital name. Click Search to get results of hospitals in the area that match your search criteria. Each page lists 20 hospitals, and you may choose to view the hospitals as a list or on a map.
You can modify your results by changing the location and adding a hospital type and name, states Medicare.gov. You can compare up to three hospitals at a time and add hospitals to your favorite list. Some of the facilities listed in MedlinePlus directory provide Medicare and Medicaid facilities, states the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
