Customer service refers to the assistance a business gives its customers before, during and after the buying process. Customer service begins with the first communication the customer has with the business whether in person, by phone or by mail.
"Service" is the key word in the term "customer service." Successful companies want satisfied customers, and the most satisfied customers are those who feel their questions are answered and their problems solved in a manner that is both friendly and timely. Good customer service practices include remaining professional and courteous at all times, trying to answer questions as completely as possible and attempting to meet the customer's needs to the best of one's ability.
