State residents enroll in MassHealth through the online marketplace called the Massachusetts Health Connector, explains Medicaid.gov. Pregnant women, children, parents, the disabled and other individuals with special health needs qualify for MassHealth based upon their modified adjusted gross incomes, according to Massachusetts Health and Human Services. Once MassHealth approves new members, it sends them enrollment packages that include a list of health care plans from which they can choose. MassHealth requires members to have a specific plan and primary health care provider, so if they do not select a plan, MassHealth chooses one for them.
Over 300,000 members throughout Massachusetts use its network of doctors, health centers and hospitals, states Neighborhood Health Plan.
