What Does a Marketing Manager Do?

Marketing managers are principally responsible for making the public aware of their company's products and services in order to get more potential customers. Product marketing managers, in particular, are involved in actually developing and monitoring the company's products, which can be online games, for example.

Overseeing product development may include setting the prices for the products and adding new features. The hope is that these strategies will increase shareholder value and boost the bottom line. To that end, managers pay rapt attention to trends, so they understand what direction the company ought to go in, and therefore what marketing programs and campaigns to develop around those goals.

Other tasks include giving presentations, doing market research and recommending changes if a company's marketing approach isn't performing well. Moreover, they hire, develop, and supervise marketing sales staff.
