As of 2015, there are approximately 600 Wound Care Center locations across the United States, notes Healogics, one of the companies that manages the centers. Wound Care Centers are often found in hospitals and medical centers, including the UP Health System - Marquette in Michigan and the St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
The purpose of a Wound Care Center is to help patients with wounds that don't heal or heal slowly. Some of these patients might have had skin grafts, faced diabetes complications, had internal injuries or experienced tissue damage from surgery. Patients can visit a Wound Care Center for help with pain management, removal of bad tissue, physical therapy or other services that can help them deal with their wound issues.
