As of 2015, there are six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles touring throughout the United States. The 27-foot long vehicles roam different parts of the country to promote the Oscar Mayer brand.
The first Wienermobile debuted in 1936 as a creation of Oscar Mayer's nephew, Carl Mayer. Over the years, different versions of the vehicle were built using chassis from Chevrolet, GMC, RAM and specialty designers.
Those who are hired to drive the Wienermobiles are called "Hotdoggers." They appear at various events and promotions, and they often hand out Wienermobile toys, such as whistles, to those present. Oscar Mayer displays photos from events on its various social media accounts, including its Twitter and Instagram accounts specifically dedicated to the Wienermobile.
