There are 4,974 community hospitals, which include 2,904 nongovernment not-for-profit community hospitals, 1,060 investor-owned community hospitals and 1,010 state and local government community hospitals.
There are 213 federal government hospitals, 406 nonfederal psychiatric hospitals, 81 nonfederal long-term care hospitals and 12 institutional hospitals.
