There are many manufacturers of medicated salt blocks depending on the animal's needs, including Sweetlix, a part of Ridley Block operations and Safe-Guard, a brand manufactured by Intervet/Merck. Consult a veterinarian to diagnose and treat all animals, including livestock, recommends Drugs.com.
Medicated salt blocks are given to cattle, livestock and wildlife to provide treatments, supplements or nutritional needs to animals. In instances of deworming, re-treatment may be necessary and other conditions, such as feeding directions and slaughtering instructions, must be followed. Safe-Guard and other medicated salt blocks should be placed in known feeding areas and ideally cattle behaviors and conditions should be established with nonmedicated blocks before beginning treatment, advises Coker Feed Mill.
