Rent payments through the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) can be made by mail, in person, by phone, by bank account or payroll deduction or online at NYC.gov. Rent is due on the first day of each month.
The NYCHA offers many ways to pay rent for its residential and commercial customers. Some ways of paying rent, such as by phone, at an authorized bank, via payroll deduction or via benefits from the NYC Human Resources Administration, are available to residential customers only. There may be a small fee for paying rent to NYCHA by e-check or debit card. This fee is charged by the payment processing vendor, not the NYCHA. There is no fee for online payments for customers who sign up for e-Bill, a system that delivers paperless bills online. A customer who signs up for e-Bill will no longer receive their rent statement in the mail and must remember to check their email or their account at NYCHA to make timely rent payments.
Residential and commercial customers are always able to pay in person at a payment center. Even those customers who are signed up for e-Bill may pay their rent by any of the acceptable methods listed at NYCHA's website and are not required to pay online.
