The British Council, the organization that runs the International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, allows test takers to pay the test fee online through the IELTS website on the online application page. Test takers can pay this fee online via credit card, debit card or online demand draft that has been made out to the British Council and payable at New Delhi.
The British Council only accepts IELTS online credit card and debit card test fee payments from Visa, Visa Electron or Master Card. Test takers who pay their test fees with credit cards or debit cards are not required to provide any additional documentation or paperwork to prove payment before they take their tests.
If a test taker can complete an online demand draft payment, he must bring a copy of the IELTS test application acknowledgement as well as proof of payment. The proof of payment is typically the British Council copy of the ICICI Bank payment slip, or challan slip. The proof of payment must be submitted within three days of registering for the IELTS. Test takers can mail this proof of payment to the British Council in Gurgaon or email a scanned copy of the document to the organization via IELTSpayments@britishcouncil.org as of 2015.
