Make custom identification stickers by purchasing blank stickers and using a word processor such as Microsoft Word to create a template to print information onto them. It is also possible to download an existing template for use with various types of labels or to purchase the labels premade through sites such as StickerYou.com or RydinDecal.com, as of 2015.
Begin by selecting the identification stickers that best suit your needs, such as thin stickers for the tabs of folders or large, wide stickers to affix onto boxes. All commercial label sticker products include the dimensions of the entire sheet and the individual labels, allowing you to locate or construct a template. When creating a label template in Microsoft Word, open a new document, and choose the Mailings section within the Create group on the main menu ribbon. Select the Labels option. Choose the appropriate template from the list, or simply open the blank document and use the Cells tools to make your own.
Label manufacturers such as Avery also offer free templates for use with its products on Avery.com. This site also contains a tool for making custom templates. Sites such as StickerYou.com also offer interactive tools that let you edit and customize labels and order the sheets with your information on them. RydinDecal.com offers this service, but you must contact its sales department to place orders.
