As of 2015, Amazon Prime subscriptions include free access to the Kindle Owner's Lending Library, a collection of more than 800,000 e-books that include past and present bestsellers and the entire "Harry Potter" series. Members can borrow one title per month, with no due date or hidden costs.

An Amazon Kindle is necessary to use the program, but any generation of it is compatible with the program. When browsing the books available on the Kindle Store, Lending Library offerings have an Amazon Prime badge in their description. Prime members can purchase these books like any other or elect to borrow the book free of charge for one month. Members can only borrow one book at a time. Hard copy books are not a part of the program.
