3M's main product distribution hub in the United States is a network of four centers in Dekalb, Illinois. Each distribution center represents a key cog in the company's supply chain management and ships products to vendors across the country. Two smaller centers exist in Forest City, Iowa and Anchorage, Alaska.
The distribution centers work together with sales offices, manufacturing centers and corporate development offices in 35 states throughout the country as well as the corporate headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota to maximize the efficiency of the supply chain process. As of 2015, the vast majority of these offices fall under the manufacturing category, as the wide range of products 3M carries creates a need for a variety of manufacturers.
Contact information and exact addresses for each of the distribution centers, corporate headquarters and any other 3M offices are available on the company's website under the resources tab. A detailed list of offices and centers is organized by state with a phone number, fax number and physical address for each. In addition to the contact information, many of the listed centers contain a link to a page with more information about that particular branch. For example, the Ames, Iowa branch details what products are manufactured there and features facility facts including date of inception and factory size.
