ASE official study guides are available on ASE.com under Test Prep & Training and Study Guides. There are study guides for Automobile & Light Truck A1 through A9, Transit Bus H1 through H8, Parts Specialist P1 and P2, and Medium-Heavy Truck T1 through T8. Each study guide covers a task list for each corresponding section of questions, with 10 to 15 multiple choice questions per task and an asterisk to denote the correct answers.

ASE administers certification tests by computer at ASE-approved testing centers as of 2016. ASE delivers test results and score reports immediately after the test. The score report indicates general performance and does not reference specific questions answered incorrectly.

Third-party test prep kits also give answers to test prep material, such as ASE practice test kits by Dr. John Kershaw available on Tests.com and Amazon.com. Kershaw wrote actual ASE tests for many years, and his study guides and practice tests closely resemble the types of questions that appear on official tests. His test prep kits include answers and explanations for ASE tests A1 through A8.
