Apple Federal Credit Union serves Northern Virginia, with 20 branch locations as of April 2015. The credit union has a presence in Virginia locales, including Ashburn, Sterling, Herndon, Chantilly and Vienna.
Alexandria, Springfield, Manassas, Gainesville and Centreville also have Apple FCU branch locations, and the credit union offers Apple FCU-branded ATMs on the campuses of Northern Virginia Community College at Loudoun, Manassas, Alexandria, Woodbridge and Annandale and the campus of George Mason University.
Apple Federal Credit Union was founded in 1956 by a group of educators working within the Fairfax County Public School District as a member-owned financial cooperative. Membership in Apple FCU is restricted to select groups, including faculty, staff, students and family members of public schools in Northern Virginia, George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College and Shenandoah University. In addition, membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Fairfax County, Fairfax City, Manassas City, Manassas Park or Prince William County.
Eligible members have access to personal and business checking and savings accounts, as well as personal loans, mortgages, home equity loans, auto loans and student and teacher loans. Apple FCU also offers retirement accounts, credit cards and holiday and vacation club accounts.
